Grips

At JAG, we believe in "kips before grips." Simply meaning, a gymnast should have a kip on bars before entering into the world of wearing grips.
Below are several links with women's dowel-grip suggestions. We recommend buckle grips, so the links below are for grips with buckles.
Please note, for liability reasons, grip companies typically won’t allow returns once they’ve been worn, so we encourage you to measure her hands well based on each website’s instructions, prior to purchasing!
We do have Bailie brand sizer samples available at the gym if you would like to have your gymnast try them on. However, it is specific to this brand only.
JAG does not require the girls to use any particular brand or style of grips. However, we do recommend buckle over Velcro. Also, if your child is older or has bigger hands we suggest purchasing a style that has a stronger/wider wrist band/base. Please take note of how wide the leather strip is that covers the actual hand. If your child has small or thin hands, a narrower leather strip will fit her hands better. The leather strip should not cover the entire palm of the hand.
Finally, please be sure to measure her hand and choose the most appropriate size to the best of your ability, prior to purchasing.
